Search for “{search_term_string}” – The Flourishing Abode

I love to be amazed. I have a personal motto, “living the amazement.” I tend to get really excited, talk a lot with my hands, and laugh loudly. One of my favorite things to do is go exploring with my family and find something we did not know about before, big or tiny. Most of all I am amazed by God. Tim is the resident coffee-guru, scone-baker, hand-tool woodworker, and beard-grower. We’re an urban family, adventuring together through this life, keeping our hearts first and foremost on God.

Chocolate Cherry Double Layer Birthday Cake: A Last-Minute Birthday Delight!

A few weeks ago, I found myself unexpectedly tasked with making a birthday cake for a friend’s impromptu party. No one had thought about the cake, so my husband volunteered me, knowing that baking is my thing. With only two hours to go, I turned to my favorite shortcut: Duncan Hines Devil’s Food Cake Mix. I’ve made this cake before, and every time, it turns out moist, rich, and indulgent exactly what you want for a birthday treat. But here’s where things got interesting. I didn’t want to just bake any cake; I wanted something special. So, I grabbed the … Read more

Well, we’ve reached the end of the 6 weeks for the Creative Business challenge! And for the finale, we’ll be covering the single most asked-about topic from your handmade biz questions: marketing. I left it for last because one of the reasons marketing can be so difficult is because there are other things about your business that have to be in place first to be able to market more easily, and so I wanted to cover those in the first in the series. I hope you found those posts helpful. If you missed them, they lay out groundwork for how … Read more
