Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spatula
  • Ice cream maker
  • Freezer-safe airtight container
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Blender or food processor
  • Fine-mesh strainer (optional)
  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups mashed fresh strawberries
  • 2 drops red food coloring (Optional)
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine strawberries, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and food coloring, stirring until well mixed.
  • If a smoother texture is desired, blend the mixture until no strawberry chunks remain.
  • Pour the prepared mixture into the freezer bowl of an ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to churn until thick and creamy.
  • Once the ice cream reaches the desired consistency, transfer it into an airtight container and freeze until firm before serving.

Notes

  • For enhanced flavor, macerate the strawberries in sugar for 15 minutes before mixing.
  • Adding a tablespoon of vodka or corn syrup can improve texture by preventing excessive iciness.
  • A fine mesh strainer can be used to remove strawberry seeds for a smoother ice cream.
