  • Bamboo matcha whisk (chasen) or spoon

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 tsp fresh grated ginger or 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp raw honey optional
  • A pinch of dried yuzu peel or lemon zest optional
  • 1/2 tsp finely chopped or powdered kelp kombu
  • 1 cup hot water just below boiling
  • 1 tsp ceremonial-grade matcha powder

Instructions
 

  • Heat 1 cup of water until it reaches just below boiling, around 175°F.
  • In a bowl or cup, combine matcha powder, powdered or finely shredded kelp, ground ginger, and a pinch of citrus zest if desired.
  • Gradually pour the hot water over the dry ingredients while whisking continuously using a bamboo whisk or spoon until the mixture becomes smooth and frothy.
  • Add raw honey if you like a hint of sweetness.
  • Stir gently and sip slowly, enjoying the warm and revitalizing flavors.

Notes

  1. Always whisk in a zigzag (M or W) motion with a bamboo whisk to create a smooth texture and light froth.
  2. Use culinary-grade matcha for stronger flavor or ceremonial-grade for a more delicate taste.
