Equipment

  • Knife and cutting board
  • Broiler pan
  • Slow cooker
  • Mixing bowl
  • Tongs
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 3 chicken wings (approx. 16-18 wings)
  • salt and black pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¼ cup oil
  • ½ cup favorite bottled barbecue sauce
  • 2 cups honey
  • 1 cup soy sauce

Instructions

  • Cut off and discard the wing tips, then slice each wing at the joint to create two sections.
  • Lightly season with salt and pepper.
  • Arrange the wings on a broiler pan and place them about six inches from the heat source.
  • Broil for about ten minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  • Once browned, transfer the wings to a slow cooker.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the remaining ingredients until well combined.
  • Then pour the sauce over the wings.
  • Cover the slow cooker and set it to High for two hours or Low for four hours, allowing the flavors to meld and the wings to become tender.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, broil the wings again for a few minutes after slow cooking.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F for safety.
  • Adding a dash of smoked paprika or cayenne can enhance the BBQ flavor with a smoky or spicy kick.
  • Serve with a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing for a creamy contrast.
