Equipment

  • Rolling pin
  • Baking sheet or pizza stone
  • Sharp knife
  • Cooking Brush

Ingredients

  • 1 package store-bought pizza dough or homemade if preferred
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce rich and slightly smoky
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese preferably fresh
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives for eyes and details
  • 4 slices pepperoni for spooky faces and decorations
  • to taste chili flakes and fresh herbs for finishing touches
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for brushing crust

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 220°C (430°F) and gather all your ingredients and equipment.
  • Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface with a rolling pin until it’s about 30cm in diameter, aiming for an even thickness.
  • Transfer the rolled dough onto a baking sheet or preheated pizza stone, then spread a thin layer of tomato sauce evenly over the surface, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce, covering it completely for a gooey, cheesy base.
  • Place sliced black olives on the pizza to create spooky eyes and other fun facial details, and add pepperoni slices for mouths or extra decorations.
  • Using a cooking brush, lightly coat the crust edges with olive oil to give them a shiny, crispy finish.
  • Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling and slightly browned around the edges.
  • Remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle with chili flakes and fresh herbs for aroma and a spicy kick.
  • Let the pizza rest for 5 minutes to allow the toppings to set, then slice with a sharp knife, revealing the crispy crust and gooey cheese inside.
  • Serve your haunted creation hot, perhaps with a side of garlic dip or a fresh green salad for a complete spooky feast.

Notes

For extra spooky details, consider adding edible eyes, green peppers, or candy decorations. Using a pizza stone can give an even crispier crust. Keep an eye on the pizza while baking to prevent burning the edges.
