Gatorade Slushie

This Gatorade slushie is a refreshing, icy treat made by freezing flavored Gatorade in a shallow dish and periodically scraping it to create a fluffy, semi-frozen texture. The process involves freezing, scraping, and optionally adding lemon juice or berries for extra flavor and visual appeal, resulting in a bright, tangy, and playful frozen drink.

Equipment

  • Shallow metal or glass dish
  • Fork or sturdy spatula
  • Chilled glasses
  • Measuring cup

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Gatorade any flavor you like
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice optional, for brightness
  • a handful berries optional, for color and flavor contrast
  • pinch salt to enhance flavor

Instructions

  • Pour the Gatorade into a shallow dish, spreading it evenly to ensure quick and uniform freezing.
  • Place the dish in the freezer and set a timer for 30 minutes.
  • After 30 minutes, remove the dish and use a fork or spatula to scrape the icy edges toward the center, breaking up large crystals and fluffing the mixture.
  • Return the dish to the freezer and repeat the scraping process every 30 minutes, a total of 3-4 times, until the mixture resembles a fluffy, semi-frozen slushie.
  • Optionally, stir in lemon juice and a handful of berries for extra zing and color.
  • When the slushie reaches a light, fluffy texture and is scoopable, serve immediately in chilled glasses for the best experience.

Notes

Ensure your Gatorade is well chilled before freezing for faster, more even freezing. Keep an eye on the texture during scraping to avoid overfreezing into solid blocks. Feel free to customize with different Gatorade flavors or add fresh fruit for variety.
