Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup white sugar 
  • ¼ tsp ground nutemg
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cold butter, cut into pieces
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 pinch salt

Apple Filling

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 6 cups apples - peeled, cored, and chopped
  • cup white sugar, or to taste
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • Add the butter and mix using your fingers or a fork until the mixture forms coarse crumbs, then stir in the walnuts.
  • In a separate small bowl, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, ginger, and cinnamon.
  • Place the sliced apples into the slow cooker and stir in the cornstarch mixture.
  • Add lemon juice and toss everything to coat evenly.
  • Evenly sprinkle the prepared topping over the apples.
  • Cover the slow cooker and cook on Low for 4 hours or on High for 2 hours, until the apples are tender.
  • Once done, turn off the slow cooker, partially uncover it, and let the crisp sit for about 1 hour to allow the topping to firm up.
