WinterFest has a different theme each year. This year it was Russia. We loved the theme ideas many of you posted – and for next year, we were inspired by the suggestion of Lori B from IMK,IML to think outside the box of theme by country. We’ve already decided for next year, and I thought it would be fun to play a little game here to see if you can guess the theme!
I’ve posted 8 pictures below, all tied into next year’s theme – and then the 9th image has the answer! So, scroll down slowly and see how many picture clues it takes you to figure out the theme! Post in the comments how quickly you got the answer – did you figure it out after 2 photos? 5? 8? Not till you saw the answer? I’ll be curious to see! :)

I’m very excited about a Grimm’s Fairy Tale WinterFest! There are so many fun possibilities with this theme … and plenty of food options, even though it’s not a country: porridge from Goldilocks and the three bears, a basket of goodies from Little Red Riding Hood, and so forth. Plus, I just love the folklore woodland feel!

I got it in 3. This is just such a great idea. I love seeing what neat traditions other families have started as I think about starting some of our own.

oops! I flunked this as I was trying to pick a country (i.e. Russia); I thought of nursery rhymes, but tried to pick a country. Looks like fun!
Ah, yeah … we decided to not go with a country next year, but this is the first time we’re not doing a country so that’s understandable. :) Nursery rhymes is pretty close, though! :)
I guessed fairy tales at the second picture, but didn’t specify Grimm’s. Sounds like a fun theme, but don’t let T. start planning to cook children in an oven or have them gobbled by wolves or anything, ok? Hold him back. :)
Ha! Yeah, we’ll probably try to avoid the child-eating fairy tale food trend. ;)

I guessed fairy tale with #2 but was trying to fit it into a country – example where is Hans Anderson from – I can’t wait to see what you come up with – it may be hard to narrow it down.
Ah, yeah, we have always done countries before … this is our first time to have a different theme. Lori had suggested children’s lit, and we ended up liking that idea and going with Grimm’s Fairy Tales. It’ll definitely be a different process narrowing down exactly what we want to do, but I’m looking forward to it!
