I’m very very excited today about a new line of prints I’ve just launched in my shop, and I wanted to share it with you! The theme of the new line is the incorporation of vintage art. By melding vintage illustrations with modern typography and design, it combines into whimsical and fresh pieces of art. The illustrations are old enough (from the 1920’s and prior) to be in the public domain and are no longer under copyright. So I’ve worked them into my new print designs, often altering the colors (most were in simple black and white) and pairing them with playful words and phrases. And I am quite tickled with how they turned out! I hope you like them too — let me know what you think and if you have a favorite. I just might have to do a giveaway from my new line soon! :) ** UPDATE: Yep, I’m having a giveaway from my new line, as mentioned! Check out my first vlog for the details!**
So, without further ado, the rest of my new line of prints!
My personal favorite is probably the “Come on in, sit down, chill out” poster – it makes me cheery to see it when I come home. :) Let me know what you think in the comments below!
very good girl!!
like them! :)
and i have to say that the one that really impress me is “cut it out”, but i don’t know why…
maybe because it’s short, sharp and make me think to really cut bad things and make we want to smile :D
Thanks so much Fede! :D That one I can totally picture in a crafting room or studio. :) I’m so glad you like it! Thanks for your comment! :)
The Edward Lear quote is charming. The cup of tea is a really cute idea (it would be a pretty amazing gift for a friend of mine). Just out of curiosity, could the tea cups be customizable to be different colors?
Thanks Amanda! :) Yes, I often do custom color versions for people … I definitely think the tea cup print could look great in a variety of colors. It would take a week or two to make a new version/have it printed/etc., but if that is something you’d be interested in, just let me know! :)
Yay, a “Nosh” print! You know I have to choose that as my favorite with the feather print a close second. Love these April, beautiful work!
Haha, thanks Katrina! Yeah, I loved your vintage Nosh Box so much, I’m still kicking myself for not snatching up the box before it sold! :) But I can at least have my nosh print! :D
Difficult to choose – they’re all good. Just calling in from the Etsy Blogging Forum site – and am inviting you to visit my blog (see contact details) where I post about the toys I make, mend and try to sell at http://www.coldhamcuddlies.etsy.com. Looking forward to seeing you there soon.
I love the idea! So original! My favorite is ‘Cut it Out’, followed by the tea cup print. Great work, girl! :)
Aw, thanks, Sierra! :D
Oh boy… I seriously love the Tea is My Cup of Tea.
Thanks, Hilda! :D That one seems to be getting a lot of the votes! :)
They’re all really good, but “Feather Your Nest” and “Nosh” are my favorites… so sharp!
Thanks! Yeah, I recently saw a vintage snack/cookie jar in a friend’s shop (saltandginger.etsy.com) that said “Nosh Box” on it … and I knew I had had to use “Nosh” in a print! :) Thanks for stopping by! :)
These are beautiful! I found you though craftgawker. My favorite is the “dined on mince” one. And I love the “cut-it-out” piece. I say that as my kids start squabbling. It made me smile this morning.
Haha, yeah, “cut it out” can definitely have a couple different kinds of meanings! :) Thanks for stopping by from CraftGawker! :)
I like the Nosh print. “Nosh” was the “nom” of our parents generation.
“Nosh” = vintage “nom”.
Haha! :) Thanks, honey! :)
I love the “Come in” one! Second fave is “Cut it out”. What a fun line!
Thanks Jody! :D Yeah, the “come in” one is my favorite too – I’ve got it hanging up on our wall! Oddly, for all the art I make I hardly ever actually think to put any up at home! *face palm* But I do have that one up … and the “feather your nest” :)
